How to Do a Niche and Keyword Research in 5 Minutes or Less

By Jon | November 14, 2008

This is the quickest way to discover niche and keywords that I know of. Why? Because somebody else already did the job for you. All you have to now is to create a website or write an article to start your campaign with these niches or keywords.

If you have any questions from the video? Post a comment and I’ll be glad to reply.

I like this technique -very fast and simple. But wouldn’t you have to test the keywords further to make sure they are well searched and not too high in competition? Either way, I can see this as a great first step to search for long tail keywords. Thanks!

    Hi Larry.

Yes, you still have to test it though. This is just a way for you to find a niche if you don’t know where to begin.

Plus couple of keywords to start digging in for more profitable ones.

    Thanks for dropping by.

My comment is basically the same as Larry’s–that you still want to check the keywords. Many EZA articles are written by people who know nothing about keyword research and we wouldn’t want to repeat their mistakes. However, EZA categories and subcategories may be a really helpful starting point.

This looks like an excellent starting point for your keywords research. The next step, it seems to me is to find out the level of competition, and to determine whether or not it is a topic that will compel your readers to pull out their wallets.

Great video, I’ve never used ezine articles in that fashion, great tip on the meta keywords … that’s the one section of every page where the developer gives up their targeted niche.

Hi Jon! Super use of the ezinearticles.com site! I took the video you made (the YouTube one) and made a web page just for my subscribers so they can take advantage of the information you kindly provided.

If you ever need a testimonial, Jon, I’m your man!

Keep up the great work. I look for more good things from you.

Happy holidays to you and yours.

    Hi Jay.

Glad you like it. A link from your site to mine will be great if you can put one.

Don’t forget to subscribe to my RSS for future updates. It’s in the upper right hand of this blog.

I’ll be releasing more things in the next couple of weeks.

    Hi Jon,
Thanks for your advice and the digging for gold report.
I still feel like I’m missing something when trying to formulate a long tailed keyword and use as a URL. I have a number of sites ready made and all I need to do is come up with the .com address before I’m challenged with uploading them. I may be complicating things too much, but I’ve reached the end of my sanity and after 4 years of not making a penny and 20K and a lot of time spent, I could really do with this effort finding some reward. Is there something that you have writen that could help me see the light?
P.S. Do you know anyone, perhaps one of your successful students that would like to help someone (Me) change my life?
However this comes across? Thanks Jon for your work and the info that you share.
    Alan

    Thanks Jon,

I write and submit articleds to Ezinearticles.com and I have not done things the way you have shown here.

Your system is clear and simple rather than having to go through the “publisher” section.

Thanks for sharing your expertise here.

I hope you don’t mind my contribution here Jon as it relates to Alan.

I might be completely off track here but Alan you sound like you have a ferw Adsense sites.

My advice is simple. Register a domain name. I use Namecheap some people use GoDaddy there are lots of others. Cost? less than $10

Get a webhost. Try Hostgator at less than $10/month

Get an auto responder. Aweber is cool at $19.98/month

Build a simple website with an opt in page (this is supplied by your auto responder. I do not want to make blatant recommendations here as I consider that spamming and disrespectful to Jon

Get traffic to your website (Jon is teaching us how)

Offer something for free on your website and Capture the traffic coming to your website

Keep in touch with your subscribers

Find out what they want. How? Just ask!

Look for it — affiliate products, videos like Jon’s, your products or Master Resell rights products.

Offer it to your list for free or at a price.

There is more but this will keep you busy for now.

IF THIS IS TOO MUCH FOR YOU THEN TRY BUM MARKETING! I can’t go into that here.

I hope this helps you Alan

Thanks again for the video Jon. I hope I have not taken up too much space here.

    Thanks Jon, great idea.

Also once you have a keyword in mind, you could use the search feature to quickly narrow down the list of articles and if you use the advanced search you can further refine your search by category and even search within article keywords.
